Synchronicity - The Roots of Coincidence

By J Finnis

Coincidence is where two or more unrelated things seem to occur in close enough proximity to suggest some relationship between them. Eg you dream of a school friend you haven't heard from for years only to get a reunion invitation from that same person next day.

Between getting the idea for this post and actually writing it a friend told me of two instances when people she hadn't seen for ages came into her mind. The first she ran into on the street next day, and the second happened to be on the TV when she walked into the next room! And, on the day I posted this, I happened to be flicking through the TV channels and started watching an old series (of about 80 episodes). Bizarrely the episode being shown was the same that I happened upon over 4 years ago also by channel-flicking. I don't follow this series and don't recall having watched it inbetween times. Coincidence, or what?

We all experience coincidences. And quite often they send a little shiver down our spine as though signaling some greater hidden force is at work.

But before getting too carried away, let's make it clear - coincidence happens as a fact of nature. For example, if you continually roll two dice, once in six they will come up with the same number. Nothing spooky about that. Coincidences are significant only when they occur more frequently that chance suggests they should.

The great Swiss psychologist C.G. Jung coined the term synchronicity to describe "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events", ie coincidence. Jung ascribed the phenomenon to some "acausal connecting principle", ie he postulates some greater, unseen, reality having a direct effect on earthly events.

When we are born, a small part of Spirit associates itself with our physical body. But while incarnate the knowledge of our Spiritual nature is buried deep within. Our focus needs to be on earthly matters both to survive, and to fulfill our purpose in being here.

But we remain Spirit; and occasionally we glimpse evidence of that reality. Like us, the physical universe manifests from Spirit and remains subordinate to Spirit. Largely it operates deterministically, but within that apparent determinism lie clues to the existence of a greater reality.

It's a bit like we're puppets (albeit with our own Will) in a puppet theatre. We make our moves and observe the moves of others, but remain unaware of the hidden (Spiritual) force that is pulling the strings save for the occasional glimpse of its influence. Perhaps part of our role in this life is to rediscover our Spiritual essence after having it hidden from us. Coincidence provides but one signpost along that journey.

Spirituality Information: Life is a Process of Inquiry by Richard D. Blackstone

The quest for spirituality information requires you to inquire within for the answers you seek. There is no God or universe “out there”. Your spiritual journey is one of seeking, attaining and then going beyond. Begin your journey by looking at the physical world that you have created.

We live in a relationship world. Everything in the physical universe is defined and categorized in relation to what it is not. Nothing is absolute except change.

The nature of the universe is a constant, on-going, never-ending, moment-to-moment participation in change. The whole universe changes from nano-second to nano-second.

We, as individuals, change with every breath we take. Every cell in our body changes and it has been documented that in seven short years every cell of our body is different.

Life is change.

We aren't totally cognizant of this phenomenon because we live our lives at a vibratory level that allows the senses to slow down our perspective so that we view these on-going changes at a slower pace. Although we can step back from this slower perspective and view this higher vibration self any time we desire, during our day-to-day living we usually choose not to do that. We are too caught up in our on-going dramas to truly stop what we are doing and reflect on “what serves us.”

The changes that we do see in life are recognized and analyzed through our five physical senses of sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. As we delve deeper into this exploration of change, we begin to understand that we also interpret our world through our metaphysical senses. This is where we get into those concepts that are known to us on a more esoteric level but known to us nonetheless.

Concepts such as intuition, clairvoyance, second sight, déjà vu and synchronicity are also part of our makeup when we look at ourselves from a more detached perspective. When we allow ourselves to step back from this physical mass of skull and bones and skin and blood and guts and gray matter and lots of fluids we begin to understand that we are so much more than this physical, three dimensional body.

This is when we come to know that we are truly, at our essence, a three-part being made up of mind, body and spirit.

That is who we really are.

We are three-part beings living in a world of dualities. This statement alone goes a long way in explaining why we are not always “being what serves us.” It is because we are not always being who we really are.

Who we really are is a three-part being made up of mind, body and spirit. That is who we really are. However, we live in a universe based in duality relationships, so most of us have carried that pervasive duality definition into how we define ourselves.

We tend to define ourselves as a two-part being made up of a body and a mind. This makes sense because our “senses” are the tools we use for analyzing who we are and what we do. It makes sense to use our senses in this manner, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, we are only using our physical senses. But remember, who we really are is a three-part being and we possess not only our physical senses but also our nonphysical and metaphysical senses.

What are these you ask? They are the mind and spirit part of this three-part being that we really are. We are all triad beings living in a world of dualities. Herein lies the crux of the troubles and turmoil in which the human species finds itself at this particular point in our never-ending evolution, but fortunately this is also our salvation from these very same troubles and turmoil.

We, as individuals and as societies, need to understand from a larger, clearer perspective what this concept of our triad makeup is all about.

We, as individuals and as societies, need to understand from a larger, clearer perspective what this concept of living in a world of dualities is all about.

We, as individuals and as societies, need to understand from a larger, clearer perspective “what serves us” and “what does not serve us.”

The answers to these questions and, indeed, every question you have about life, are not found in the exterior world of physicality, they are found in the interior world of our spiritual self.

Go within and begin the process of awareness and understanding of “Who you really are” and continue this process as the universe sends you the answers.

If-You-Desire-Something-Enough-The-Universe-Will-Deliver-It by Victor Epand

There is a philosophy going around that if you desire something enough in a positive way, and you visualize it continually the universe will deliver the fruits of that desire.

There are some instances depicted where a man really wants something like a new sports car and he meditates on it (don't try this!), sees it in his minds eye, tries it out in his imagination, surrounds himself with picture of it, etc; and lo a behold this sports car manifests one day on the gross plane and he is able to possess the object of his desire. Of course possessing the object of your material desire does not give you happiness. Does the universe fulfill all your desires if the desires are strong enough?

There is an interesting word "synchronicity", which means that events that are not causally related (one event being the cause of the other) occur together by the action of some unknown (in this case the universe) factor. Sometimes we are speaking about someone else, and at the same time the person calls on the phone. That would be an example of synchronicity.

How to explain this through the lens of Vedic knowledge?

The universe is not unconscious nor it a big genie responding to everyone's wishes, nor is it impersonal energy responding to our mental energetic radiation! We know that behind all the universal functions there is Krishna as the creator, lawgiver, overseer, proprietor, universal Super soul, individual Super soul, etc. So, in other words "not a blade of grass moves without the will of the Supreme Personality of Godhead."

Also there are 33 million demigods who control the universe under Krishna's direction. So, why does it seem that when people desire things with great intensity and they meditate on the fruits of their desire, the universe responds to their desires? Srila Prabhupada explains this nicely in a purport:

And so, when the living entity is bewildered in his desires, the Lord allows him to fulfill those desires, but the Lord is never responsible for the actions and reactions of the particular situation, which may be desired. Being in a bewildered condition, therefore, the embodied soul identifies him with the circumstantial material body and becomes subjected to the temporary misery and happiness of life. The Lord is the constant companion of the living entity as Paramatma, or the Super soul, and therefore He can understand the desires of the individual soul, as one can smell the flavor of a flower by being near it. Desire is a subtle form of conditioning for the living entity. The Lord fulfills his desire, as he deserves: Man proposes and God disposes. The individual is not, therefore, omnipotent in fulfillinghis desires. The Lord, however, can fulfill all desires, and the Lord, being neutral to everyone, does not interfere with the desires of the minute independent living entities. Purport Bg 5.15

In other words if one is functioning under the laws of Karma one has a certain stock of good karma and a certain stock of bad karma. The good karma we can compare to a positive balance in our bank account. When we have a strong desire to buy something, at a certain point that desire motivates us to take the money out of our bank account so that we can purchase the item. In the same way when we have a strong desire to get something in this world, Krishna as the Super soul is aware of this, and this desire is fulfilled, if (and this is a big if) we have enough good karma in our bank account. Now, when we take the good karma out of our karmic bank account, the amount of good karma in our karmic bank account is reduced by the amount of the withdrawal. So after some time there will be no more good karma left and we can desire till the cow jumps over the moon, but there will be no response. What about the devotee's desires? A devotee has no bad or good karma.

All karma bad and good is eradicated even by namabhasa chanting. Krishna reciprocates with devotee's desires, but he will only fulfill those desires that are helpful to the devotee's spiritual progress. So, it is important for devotees to have proper desires and the stronger the devotional desire is the quicker that desire will be fulfilled.

What is a desire? A desire is something you really want with your heart and soul. Of course there are degrees of intensity of desires. When someone wants something with great intensity that is called intense greed. Prabhupada describes this intense greed for pure devotional service as the "best path available."

How do we develop this intense greed? In the material world greed is developed by the process of thinking, feeling and willing. In other words we think of something (take some food like pizza for example). The more we think about that sense object the more we get attached to it. Then we begin to feel that object of our senses. In the case of pizza we begin to salivate and almost taste it as we are visualizing our interacting with that object. Then the stage of willing comes where the desire is so intense, we act.

If we are negative we are meditating on a negative and this is what we will get-a negative. In other words if we are contemplating giving up this or not thinking about that we will develop a stronger attachment to this or that by that negative contemplation.

After contemplation of Krishna in a positive way we enter the stage of feelings. What does that mean? We picture ourselves the way we want to be.

We need to develop an intense internal vision and an intense external (the entire world taking up Krishna consciousness) vision of Krishna consciousness. These wishes will come true. Krishna will fulfill them. When our meditation/vision is harmonious with Krishna's desires, success is sure.

Synchronicity Will Lead You! by Wendy Betterini

Have you ever considered the power of synchronicity when it comes to the Law of Attraction? Most often synchronicity is described as being the opposite of coincidence - coincidences being random and meaningless, and synchronicity being divinely orchestrated.

You may even be able to remember specific experiences that were spooky the way they unfolded? Like narrowly missing being involved in a car accident because you were delayed a few minutes when leaving work; or meeting the love of your life at your local coffee shop when you stopped in unexpectedly.

These types of events can make you ponder the concepts of free will and destiny for sure!

However, experiences like these don't have to be random. You can learn to not only attract more of them into your life but use them to enhance your attraction abilities too.

That's what happened to me when I first began to explore conscious creation more deeply. I had purchased a stack of books on the subject, and was slowly working my way through them. I kept them on a small bookshelf near my bed. One particular evening I was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated because I couldn't seem to work through some inner blockages. I decided to forget all this Law of Attraction stuff and instead do some light reading and go to bed early. As I reached for the Dean Koontz novel I was currently reading, I suddenly felt like my hand was being pushed away from it.

My attention was drawn to the shelf of Law of Attraction books nearby, and my eyes fell on one book in particular that I hadn't read yet. For no apparent reason, I felt inspired to pick up that book and open to a random page. As I did so, I was amazed to realize that there, on this seemingly "random" page was the answer to my current blockage! From that moment on I was able to turn around my efforts and make tremendous progress.

This experience may sound hard to believe - or even downright "weird" - but it's much more common than you may think! When you pay attention to your inner guidance and allow it to lead you, all kinds of wonderful and amazing things can happen.

If you're ready to start using synchronicity more consciously in your own life, try these three steps:

1) Listen to your intuition.

Begin by spending time in meditation each day. Even 10 or 15 minutes is fine, but you can gradually increase the time if you wish. Sit or lie quietly and focus on calming your body and quieting your mind. Turn your attention inward and pay attention to your inner self. The more you do this, the more sensitive you're going to become to your intuitive insights - and the more easily you'll recognize when you're being prompted!

2) Follow your heart and gut!

Several times throughout the day while you're going about your usual activities, turn your attention inward again and notice if you're being nudged in any particular direction. You might get a feeling that you shouldn't do something you were going to do, or you may feel prompted to do something you weren't considering before. Listen to these insights and follow where they lead!

3) Weirdness is a sign!

Synchronicity almost always shows up as something strange or eerie in some way. For example, you might dream that you're reading a book with a green cover and have a sense that it contains powerful information. When you wake up from that dream you might feel a strong urge to visit your local bookstore. If you do, you'd likely stumble across a book (perhaps with a green cover!) that can help you on your current journey. Sometimes the way synchronicity arrives will seem to make no sense at all - but pay attention to it anyway!

The more you work with your intuition and be on the lookout for synchronicity, the more you'll find yourself being led to the right place at the right time. This can involve not only opportunities to advance your knowledge but also inspired actions that will usher in the circumstances you've been dreaming of!

How Synchronicity And Jung Appear In The Creative Process

Author: Mary Martin

I was editing a passage in my novel CONDUCT IN QUESTION, the first in THE OSGOODE TRILOGY. The villainous Florist was about to march down the stairs to kill the young man, Donnie, hiding in the cloakroom. The boy had soaked the stair carpet with gasoline and was about to set it on fire. Would that, I debated, cause the impressive explosion of flames I had described? Who could give me advice on pyrotechnics? Moments later, when the doorbell rang, I was stunned to find two firemen on my doorstep. Once I had convinced them of my innocent intent, they told me the stairwell would certainly "blow up real good."

And that is synchronicity! Which we've all experienced in our lives. Remember the time you were thinking for days of a long lost friend and then suddenly he appeared at your door? Such experiences take our breath away and make us think we are all connected in some warm cosmic soup!

But what is synchronicity? Of course, it's a coincidence, which is meaningful to you, the person whose breath is stolen away. It can't be explained by cause and effect. As far as anyone knows, you [or someone else] didn't do anything to cause the event. What coincides? My psychic state [wondering how to test out the blaze without actually setting one] and the event [the arrival of the perfect people to answer my question].

Carl Jung [the Swiss psychiatrist] is the 'father' of synchronicity, in that he experienced, studied and developed theories about it. One of his female patients had a highly rationalistic attitude toward life and was consequently resistant to much psychotherapy. As she was recounting a strange dream about receiving a golden scarab [a costly piece of gold jewelry] there was a persistent tapping on the window behind Jung. Opening the window, the doctor reached out and brought in a large scarab beetle. The appearance of the 'real' beetle at the very moment she was recounting her dream punctured her rational, intellectual approach to life and permitted her to carry on successfully with her therapy.

Some people think synchronicity operates throughout the universe as a grand 'cosmic force.' Have you seen the new movie by Mel Gibson, Apocalypto? In the Mayan culture, it was understood that vast synchronistic forces governed the universe and were related to the motion of the planets, stars and galaxies. Does this seem far-fetched in our 'modern' times? Certainly not! In the book, Cosmos and Psyche, by Richard Tarnas, published in 2006, synchronicity and the influence of the planets are impressively linked.

My experience and fascination with synchronicity caused me to devise two stunningly 'coincidental' events in my novel, FINAL PARADOX, which is the second in THE OSGOODE TRILOGY. Harry Jenkins, the protagonist, is an estates lawyer in Toronto, Canada. For years, Harry and his father have been estranged. When his sister died at the age of twelve, Harry's father, crippled with grief, withdrew almost completely from the family. And Harry, now in his late forties and childless, cannot understand how the loss of his sister could have so horribly affected his father. Now his father lies near death in hospital. Harry is in the Quiet Room of the hospital, mourning the lost years between them and wishing he knew how to pray. Suddenly a woman and her husband enter the room. Hysterical with grief over the murder of her son, the woman screams and curses until, finally, a doctor sedates her. Immediately, Harry understands the wrenching agony of the loss of a child. At the very moment of his asking, he has the answer. Harry is transformed by the sense of deep connection to forces he only dimly perceives.

So, how do such events actually happen? A study of quantum physics leads us to believe that our distinction between our inner and outer world is illusory and that we do, in fact, swim in a cosmic soup in which there is no distinction between the soup and us. And so, our psychic energy may really influence or 'cause' events in the 'outer' world. Consequently, in a moment highly charged with concentrated emotion, Harry Jenkins asks for and receive his answer in a most dramatic fashion.

Synchronicity is a Stress Reliever
By Toni Elizabeth Sar'h Petrinovich

Synchronicity - the coincidental occurrence of events that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality.

Pessimism - an inclination to emphasize adverse possibilities.

Optimism - an inclination to anticipate the best possible outcome.

Recently, I have been involved in a number of discussions revolving around a common theme: optimism vs. pessimism in the light of synchronicity. In plainer language, should we expect good or bad to happen if we believe events happen in our lives without our "trying" to make them happen?

With such a complex question, it is certainly easier to go to a simple source to help find the answer. How about nature? Is nature pessimistic or optimistic? Does nature respond to synchronicity?

At the inception of spring, the various bulbs and seeds lying dormant in the warming earth shoot upwards to break through the soil and reach for the sun. Are they overly optimistic in that reaching? Perhaps it would be better if a little hesitation was used since the sun may not be there. That doesn't sound like it makes much sense, does it? If the sun does not warm the earth enough to "excite" the activity of the bulbs and seeds, they simply wait until it does, "knowing" that it will eventually and then they will make their appearance.

Or how about birth in the animal kingdom? When the baby kitten, lion, bear or wolf is born, it optimistically searches for mother's milk. It does not doubt that the milk will be there nor does it question the availability of the milk supply. The little one simply goes to the location of food knowing that it will be there.

And where does synchronicity come into this picture? Whether we believe it or not, we are all functioning completely within synchronicity. Many choose to function within negative synchronicity, choosing a perception of a negative reality, rather than positive synchronicity and a positive perception of reality. Since synchronicity by its definition implies that it is a conscious recognition that all events, points of view, perceptions, etc. are one thing viewed from different perspectives, the choice to view life as if only adverse events will happen actually causes them to occur from the pessimist's perspective.

And what can this possibly have to do with staying healthy, happy and stress free? Everything! If an individual's choice is to view life from the perspective that everything he or she wants probably will not happen or will occur in an unfavorable way, there is set up an endless round of perception of lack which affects the immune system. A compromised immune system is the open door for health issues.

Synchronicity is "going with the flow", an oft-quoted phrase which really means we understand that we are part of Something, whatever we may call the Universe and everything in It, and that Something has a purpose that is often well beyond logic and well-placed facts. Life can be a complex balancing act as we attempt to balance our needs with those of others, including the world around us - our environment. Maintaining balance and "going with the flow" help us to accept the boundless diversity and possibility of human experience, achieve health of mind and body, experience positive synchronicity and be in harmony with ourselves and the Universe in which we live.

Spiritual Awakenings: Women in the New Age by Chris Robertson

With "Eat, Pray, Love," by Elizabeth Gilbert, topping the New York Times Best Seller List, and "The Secret" still creating a sensation around the country, there's little doubt that women are on an individual and collective journey to discern their life's purpose and awaken their spirituality. Although women continue to believe and participate in traditional religious practices, it's clear that many women are seeking tools that help them define themselves and inspire them to live the best life possible.

New Age or a Certain Age?

While about 20 percent of women identify with one or more elements of the New Age movement, a much higher percentage are on metaphysical quests - even though they might not define them as such. If you were to break down the demographics, the pattern that emerges is a snapshot of a woman over 40 who has spent most of her life excelling in her career, taking care of her husband and children, or both. It seems as though women of a certain age begin to question their assumptions about their lives, reflecting upon careers spent trying to get ahead and caregiving roles that might not fit as comfortably as they once did.

Taking Stock and Stepping Out

What triggers women to step outside of their lives and critically assess where they've been and where they're going? Perhaps, like Gilbert, they are coming out of a divorce and trying to build a new life. Maybe their children are all in college or married, and they need to redefine themselves. It could be that a parent has died, and they are faced with their own mortality. Rather than the hackneyed "mid-life crisis," these women are experiencing a "mid-life assessment." They might have a deeper understanding of who they are, their dreams may have come more clearly into focus, and perhaps they are better able to articulate their priorities. Above all, they are open to utilizing all available tools to help them both achieve their goals and achieve inner peace.

The Inner Journey

Gilbert may have traveled to Italy, India, and Bali, but women across the country are finding that they don't have to travel outside of the city limits to visualize and realize their newfound goals. Instead, theirs is an inner journey, taken alone or in the company of like-minded women.

At the heart of women's spiritual quests is the understanding that the mind, body, and soul are inextricably intertwined. For example, the New Age belief of synchronicity often comes into play. This synchronicity is at the heart of "The Secret," which outlines the ways in which our thoughts create our circumstances. Simply put, "like creates like," so when we think positive thoughts, we create positive energy that, in turn, creates positive opportunities and events in our lives.

Some women use meditation to create an inner quietness and piece, while others integrate yoga or other spiritual-physical practices to bring harmony to the mind, body, and soul. Many women give themselves permission to get regular massages to release tension and connect with their bodies, or participate in other self-care activities for the first time.

Healing and Happiness

Spiritual quests - in whatever form they take - often lead women on a healing journey and a path to greater fulfillment and happiness. No matter what event or events trigger introspection and the longing for metaphysical wholeness, the outcome is invariably positive.

Why-the-Law-of-Attraction-is-Not-the-Greatest-Secret by Daniel Hinds

Can you truly say that the law of attraction has been the greatest secret? For just about everyone who has ever had the desire to improve themselves have come across the knowledge of creation. However at no other time in history has such a large scale of people been made so aware of how vital their thoughts are on the energetic field of consciousness outside of themselves. This is by far one of the most powerful times in history.

However there is still so much more at the foundation of applying the law of attraction. That foundation is the deeper understanding of energy. Your thoughts alone do not rule your reality but your personal energy commands it. Power reigns with increased energy but few people understand or even know this. Law of attraction teachers encourage you to be grateful, be happy but few people understand the science behind this. They assume that being happy is all about keeping their thoughts positive as to manifest what they want but the secret behind this is energy.

The greatest secret is free energy. You are an energy being and all that you seek is more energy. You increase your energy when you are happy and when you are depressed you loose energy. It’s no wonder people complain about feeling weak and tired when they are consumed with thoughts of worry and fear. Those thoughts take away from your personal energy system, as a result you cannot attract the things that you want. There is a complete science to this that few people understand.

There are ancient teachers who understood this and knew the way to increase their energy to outstanding results. The energy they drew in could be used to manifest things faster. Miracles can be created as you increase your energy. The struggle to keep your thoughts positive comes from a lack of energy. The more energy you have the higher your thought patterns the faster your ability to manifest, the synchronicity you will experience.

When your energy is low you can struggle to manifest what you want until you turn blue but your success rate will be quite slow or completely unsuccessful. The most amazing secrets are so natural and so free and not hidden yet we miss them.

Do you know that there are ancient techniques that can increase your manifesting intentions and attract what you want even faster than ever? Visit http://www.cosmic-wealth.com to learn more about these secrets teachings. Daniel Hinds is the author of the powerful ebook Magic Money.

Be a psychic and know what's next! by Vicky White

Have you ever been called psychic? Yes, you!

It's easy to predict exactly what's coming to you. It's easy!

Before you decide I'm off my rocker, listen up.

The Law of Attraction is a universal law, just like the law of gravity - and it works whether you believe it or not. You are attracting things to you in every moment - mostly by default. And, you can attract things by design.

There are three parts to the Law of Attraction.

1. Ask for what you'd like.

2. You are answered (every time)

3. Receive

Sounds easy, right? And it is. Especially as you only need concern yourself with two of the three steps. Here they are:

First, Ask for what you'd like. What WOULD you really like? You may not be used to giving this too much thought. Children ask for stuff all the time. They haven't yet learned to believe they can't have it. They ask and they ask and they drive you crazy asking.

So, what specifically do you choose to have in your life? What is one thing right now? Imagine you now have this thing you've chosen - or this way of being you've chosen. How do you feel? Really get into the feeling of this outcome. You should be feeling pretty excited right now. The more feeling, the more passion you can put into it, the faster it will come to you. This is the first of two parts of the Law of Attraction that's up to you.

And especially important: don't concern yourself with how it's all going to happen. You'll never be able to figure that out because it's none of your business!

Next, You are answered. The Universe will answer - nothing you need to do. The Universe answers every time.

Then, You receive - this is the last part of the Law of Attraction you have any control over. And this is where Feng Shui becomes a powerful tool for transformation.

What you'll receive is determined by your thoughts and feelings. What you have in your life right now - the circumstances, the challenges - are not who you are. They're who you were. Where your energy and focus were in the past is creating your present.

Where your energy and focus is in this very moment is what's on it's way to you.

When you feel good you know what you're thinking and feeling right now is in alignment with who you are. You know you'll feel good with what's coming your way.

When you feel bad, well, you can imagine! That's warning bells! Focusing on that pile of debts in front of you will bring more of them - and fast if you put a powerful emotion into them, such as fear.

The higher you can raise your energy and remind yourself of where you're going, the faster it will come to you. This is where your environment can be such a powerful ally.

Imagine, your home is your sanctuary. The energy flows freely and you have a feeling of peace, of being supported. You sit in your favorite chair with your beverage of choice and look around you. What you see brings a smile to your face and a warm feeling in your heart. You feel at home. You feel inspired and excited about your life. You are surrounded by things you love that remind you of your dreams.

You absorb the energy and vibrations of who and what you surround yourself with and you attract more of the same. Feng Shui makes attraction even more powerful as you make choices about what you attract. With Feng Shui you anchor your intention in your environment. That also anchors the energy of what you're choosing, in your body and helps you become a magnet.

There are two ways to look at it. Ask yourself:

* Does the energy in my home flow? Does it inspire and energize me, or do I feel lethargic and overwhelmed? Look at specific areas such as the Wealth & Prosperity area to find out what you'll get more of. Look for clutter and symbols of scarcity.

The Wealth & Prosperity area is in the far left corner of your home when you're standing at the front door looking in.

* What are you predominantly feeling and thinking right now? - that will tell you what's on it's way.

It's easy to predict. You can be your own psychic - you can tell exactly what is coming your way by what you're thinking and how you're feeling. The good news is that that if you don't what those thoughts and feelings to bring you more of the same, you can change them.

Next, some tools for ensuring you get more of what you do want and less of what you don't!

Tips for boosting the power of the Law of Attraction to live your life by design.

1. Ask for what you'd like - set an intention for yourself each day. Really feel what it feels like now you have this outcome. Focus on where you're going, not on what's in front of you. There is no scale of difficulty in the Universe - it's your own thoughts and feelings that attract something or stop it coming.

2. Know that you cannot know how something will happen. Don't even try to figure it out. And especially know that the Universe will orchestrate things way better than you ever could.

3. Enlist the support of your environment to ensure your energy is aligned with what you are choosing to bring into your life. Anchor your intention in your environment. Surround yourself with images, objects, colors and anything else that will evoke the feelings of what you are choosing for yourself.

Want to go to a cooking school in Tuscany? Surround yourself with Italian cookbooks, maps of Tuscany, Italian olive oil, an Italian phrase book - and soak up the feeling of being there.

Attraction largely comes down to feelings - the more you can raise your energy and feel passionate about what you'd like in your life, the easier and faster it will come to you.

4. Rid yourself of clutter. Ask yourself these questions.

* do I love it?

* do I use it?

* does this represent where I'm going in life?

* Does it make my heart sing?

Clutter will bog you down, steal your dreams and make you feel lethargic. Energy cannot move freely through clutter - it's just not possible.

5. Create a gratitude journal and keep it in the Wealth & Prosperity area of your home or of a room such as your bedroom or work space. Expressing gratitude will immediately shift your energy into alignment with the energy of abundance.

6. Watch for synchronicity and listen for messages. Remember the Universe is answering your wish. Give yourself the space to hear the messages and to know which actions to take when you get an idea. Go for the ones you feel most passionate about. Passion has magic. Once you've asked for what you want, all you really need do is allow yourself to feel what it's like having your desire. Then take the actions you'll be inspired to take. Your environment will give the Law of Attraction a shot of power.

By changing your environment you change your thoughts and focus on what you want rather than what you don't want. The Universe is an abundant place and your abundance is waiting for you.

The Immense Power of Gratitude in Conscious Manifestation by Anita Briggs

Gratefulness is heaven itself.” William Blake

An “attitude of gratitude” is recommended by all the teachers of the Law of Attraction. Why is it so important? For one, gratitude can put you in the vibration of your desires fulfilled. Gratitude brings completion to cycles; when you are grateful ‘in advance’, you are feeling and responding to the completed manifestation cycle at a level of knowing. In other words, you are energetically in the fulfillment of your desired manifestations. The subconscious mind makes no distinction between what is ‘actual’ and what is imagined—its conviction comes from your emotional energy, based on intensity and frequency of those emotional states. With an attitude of gratitude, you repeatedly energize the emotional states of your manifested desires, and your subconscious mind will get working on matching your outer reality with your inner state of being. If you are trying to magnetize abundance, for example, then being grateful for all your abundant blessings puts you in the fulfilment energies of abundance, which is the perfect attractor energy for increased abundance.

But gratitude works in many varied ways. For example, being grateful for what is, including all your areas of lack or dysfunction, empowers you as an attractor force further. But how can you be grateful for your lack and dysfunction? And won’t that attract more lack or dysfunction? No it won’t—not if you’re grateful for what the lack is revealing to you. If you can feel grateful for the lack because it helps you to appreciate the sense of abundance, which is what you desire more of, then you’ve managed to be grateful for the full spectrum of experience. Without the lack, you likely would not be able to consciously appreciate and therefore choose abundance. From that state of acceptance, your choice for abundance will be met with far greater ease than it would if you were still energetically resisting lack. What we resist persists. What we resist, we create an internal polarity to, which fixes it in place. So gratitude for all experience is a very powerful means to dissolve the inner polarity and allow free movement, by choice, on the full spectrum of experience (in this case, the desired movement would be towards the abundance-end of the spectrum).

Dave Cameron explains, “…gratitude completes the cycle of knowing… What you like and what you hate are two ends of the same thing. For example, if you like being with your spouse and hate being separated from them, realize that you are working within the same essence, which is your spouse. It is because of the moments of absence that you appreciate and recognize the moments of presence. When you are grateful for both what you like and what you don't like, you complete the knowingness and you are released from having to experience what you don't like. …Some very significant shifts occur in your mind and soul whenever you are genuinely grateful for all things, even the ones you don't like. Gratitude will speed you through your growth and success more than any amount of hard work ever can. Gratitude completes the lesson, and as a statement of completion rings that tone of success, pulling to you the end result desired.” 1

When you can be grateful for the things you don’t like, you speed up the learning and hence, the need for those things in your life. “You cannot leave a situation permanently unless you appreciate the gifts it brings you, and all situations bring a gift, no matter how terrible the situation may appear to be.”1 In the case of lack, the gift may be the conscious appreciation of abundance and ease, which is necessary for sustaining it in life.

Life as God’s Love in Action

Without you, your consciousness, your life would not be. All the interactions with others and what is created out of that simply would not exist. Life arises out of you, through you, and for you. It is entirely dependent upon your consciousness. It shapes and moulds itself around you in a perfect fit, like a glove over a hand. The animated, gloved hand is you in life. The glove shifts as you shift. Take your hand out, and the glove collapses and is no longer animated.

The animating principle of this thing we call life (the glove) is the love of God for each one of us—it is God in action through the formless Substance. Imagine you are an invisible hand—invisible at the level of matter. The glove is there to allow you to see yourself and others, in order to enable experience. As fine-substance consciousness (invisible hand) in an ocean of consciousness, you cannot experience yourself apart from the ocean, and so you cannot encompass larger portions of the ocean, as you have no means of distinguishing anything consciously. The glove (i.e. matter, or the earthly realm of life) is there to enable distinction, contrast, and ultimately the experience of self and the possibility of encompassing larger portions of the ocean substance that is God, consciously. The loving embrace of the universe is your life.

The universe, upholding evolution by its love-imbued laws, hugs you tightly in a glove of life, which is love in action. Where you feel the pressure are the ‘places’ that need attention. The pain you feel, is you shrinking away from life’s embrace. This pain alerts you to where you have forgotten who you are and are resisting remembering.
Life hugs you tightly, always. You are moving consciousness—both awareness and life. You’re all of it, albeit, at different levels of consciousness. The god-you wishes you to remember who you are, the ‘small you’ is the vehicle through which that remembering process is focused. Resistance is what causes pain and delays learning. When you can be grateful for all experience, you release resistance and begin to yield and surrender to the process. The process (life) can then change from pain, to being benign, and then soon becoming a wondrous adventure.

When you are grateful for unwanted conditions that appear in life, you accept them with the faith that somehow they are for your highest good. Acceptance is a prerequisite to change. But also importantly, by your faith that the condition is somehow for your highest good, you become a commanding presence to ensure an outcome that is preferred (you choose either lessons or blessings) —and that outcome of blessing will occur far more quickly than if you resist and are embittered or dissatisfied with the condition. So be grateful for it all—the tight hug is for your highest good, and the pain is there so long as you resist. Engaging gratitude releases the resistance and enables you to move forward with the necessary learning, bringing completion and releasing the need for life to move in on you in that manner.

Rudolf Steiner2 explains that it is our consciousness that enables immortality; in unconsciousness, we do not know that we exist and so cannot speak meaningfully of immortality. Everything of your past has contributed to your current point of consciousness, and if you will be grateful for consciousness then you can be grateful for all of your past. When you can do this, you will successfully disengage from your past and be able to move resolutely forward with whatever new stories you wish to create for yourself.

In the Science of Getting Rich3, Wattles explains that there is one intelligent Substance from which all things proceed which gives you everything you desire. In his chapter on Gratitude, he states that the best means to relate to this intelligent Substance and be in a harmonious relationship with it is through profound gratitude. Failing to acknowledge our blessings “cuts the wires connecting” us to God. Energetically, failing to acknowledge creates imbalance, as there must always be a fair exchange of energies in all ‘transactions’. The universe will not be put off-balance.
Our soul lives in constant gratitude for all experience, and in this regard, lives closer to its source. When we emulate the soul we too shall live in close connection to the source of our abundance. Wattles explain the power of gratitude at accelerating manifestation because it “draws the mind into closer touch with the source from which the blessings come.”

Further he points out that gratitude always reaches what it addresses and there is an instantaneous reaction of a movement towards the person who is grateful. This is an experience we all can validate. Think of giving a gift to someone who is profoundly grateful to you for it. You are drawn closer to that person. Contrast this with gifting someone who does not acknowledge the gift, or worse, refuses it. You will feel antipathy towards that person, which draws you away from them. Hug somebody who stiffens or shrinks away, and then hug somebody who hugs you back warmly—which person is more inviting? This is another important aspect of the Law of Gratitude in action.

“Draw nigh unto God, and He will draw nigh unto you. That is a statement of psychological truth.”

It’s important that you ponder on the power of gratitude in all aspects discussed, and see where you can work these principles in your life. Gratitude is one of three keys of manifestation; these are:

• Imagination/Desire
• Gratitude
• Faith

Imagination and desire are needed to direct the formless Substance—this constitutes our engagement in life, whereby we become increasing consciousness by exerting choice and experiencing the effects of those choices. Desire is the level at which we work with the gift and power of free will as the means to come to know the self as love.

Gratitude releases our blocks from their locked-in positions, speeds up full learning, and gives back to the universe to maintain balance and harmony, and the universe in turn responds with the joy of greater giving. But these are its effects. The essence of gratitude is love, and the highest form of gratitude is unconditional love.

If you’re not sure what unconditional love feels like, try being grateful for all that is in your life that you tend to resist…be grateful for all those in your life who trigger you into less-than-love behaviours…be grateful for all past experiences that caused you pain…be grateful for all present conditions you’d rather not experience. Apply the principles discussed above, in which gratitude completes the spectrum of experience and thus the cycle of learning. Be grateful for the contrast and the resistance, for in letting go of the resistance, you gain conscious awareness and greater freedom to access, by will, the good end of the spectrum. In doing this, you will feel your heart expanding and will begin to glimpse unconditional love, and the state of being love in life. Furthermore, gratitude brings wholeness, which confers healing. As gratitude opens the heart—which is the province of miracles—, the effects of developing an attitude of gratitude in life are far-reaching.

“Wholeness is Holy; wholeness is healing. That is the essence of all miracles—physical, mental, financial, and social. Whatever has been torn apart comes back together into a state of wholeness. Love supports wholeness and wholeness support love. Through that common bond, love can heal anything.”4

Many people wonder how to operate from love in life, and the answer is by way of gratitude. Gratitude is the energy that connects us to the love that we are. Gratitude is love; gratitude for everything is unconditional love. Gratitude is the surest way to merge with the source of creation and to wield its power.

“…for this is the universal law of command. Love commands the universe, the adamantine particles, the one spirit, the heart, and all of life.”4

There is no energy or healing process that is more powerful than the application of gratitude, for gratitude is love. As a force of unconditional love, gratitude will activate the hidden workings of the cause and effect of love that operate in the universe, which is expressed in life as being in the grace of God. This force is separate from the usual cause and effect of effort and operates at a higher level of Intelligence referred to as the Holy Center of existence.5 In addition, as Wattles points out, faith is born of gratitude. Faith increases the more we dwell in the love that we are. Faith brings you deeper into the fulfilment energies of what you desire, which confers complete certainty that allows you to surrender the how-to of life and flow in divine guidance and synchronicity. All three energies generate a connection to life that is teeming with vitality and passion, and with passion, you are easily spurred to take bold action when opportunities appear.

Manifestation is an interactive dance with the Creator, and at each step there must be an exchange of energies in order to remain in balance and harmony with the laws of creation. That exchange is powerfully achieved in continuous gratitude.

If you will ponder on the power of gratitude, you will certainly understand the importance of nurturing a habit of gratitude. Not only does it aligns you to attract your god-given resources and dissolves all the blocks to receiving them, but it also restores your wholeness so that you operate from greater personal power. Gratitude is the keystone of manifestation; gratitude brings you closer to the source so that you can easily imprint your desires on the formless Substance, and it begets faith, which keeps you in a vibrational match to your desires. What you do towards increasing a grateful mind will have the largest repercussions for you in manifesting your dreams.

Everything-Is-Truly-Going-Your-Way-At-All-Times by Enoch Tan

Things are really going your way, even though it may not be the way you think things should go. Everything is happening for you. Everything is happening according to your higher choices which are the choices the real you has made. Spirit has chosen everything for you before you came into this dimension to live a life that you had already purposed to live. The path has already been laid out for you and is just there waiting for you to walk it. All you have to do is to trust the universe and to follow spirit.

You are not separate from the universe because the real you is the universe itself. Your human self is a projection of the real you which is here to do what the real you has created it to do. Therefore there is nothing for you to do and nothing for you to create, but only for you to allow the real you which is the power and the presence of the creator to create through you and to do everything through you. The way to do that is to do nothing except that which you are inspired to do, which is the guidance of spirit.

When you do something that you felt guided from within to do and it seems that it didn't work out, it is not a mistake. As long as you followed your heart, you did the right thing. It is not that nothing is happening because something is happening. The universe is preparing you for something. The actions that you took is for the purpose of helping you to learn what you need to learn, and to develop what you need to develop, in order to be able to bring into manifestation the fullness of all that you truly desire.

Even if there seem to be mistakes that may or may not be made by you, those are divinely appointed mistakes. Things might seem to be bad for the time being and the situation itself when looking from an isolated perspective may seem to be a negative one. But when you see things from the larger point of view, you will know that it is only a part of everything that is happening, and that which seems bad is the very part that leads to that which is truly good ultimately. The universe sees the perfect picture.

Everything is working together for your highest good. When you live with the awareness that the universe is always working with you and for you, you will know that you can never truly fail. Because the universe is always working every other part in synchronicity with that which you are a part of. Therefore in places where you seem to fail, it means it is not where the universe has called you to work in, or that it isn't the right timing yet. God wants what's best for you and that's why he keeps you from the rest.

Whenever you are struggling and putting in too much effort to do something, you are not living in a way that expresses your true being. Whatever that God does is without struggle and effort. Therefore you being an expression of God is meant to do everything in that manner. You can do things the easy way or you can do them the hard way. A task is only difficult or easy according to the level of proficiency that the person operates from. Therefore when you flow with the universe, things are easy and effortless.

In order to be doing the right thing at the right time, there must be internal and external alignment. When you feel the desire to do something but can't seem to do it when you want to, it doesn't mean that you can't do or have what you desire. It just means that it is not the right timing yet, or that God has a different plan for you about how things should go. Therefore when you want to do something that is in your heart but there isn't external alignment, then realize that God is directing you elsewhere for now.

God is directing you to do the best thing in the moment and he is making all things happen in the best way. That is the truth about divine order and divine timing. We are all here to do our part, which is part of the whole. Therefore if we really want to do that which is best, we have to trust the power that sees the whole picture. Because this power is always guiding us and it is truly us. Life's struggles are meant to help us master and transcend our desires so that we can follow our guidance as best as we can.

You and your dreams are not separate although they appear to be separated across time. It is an illusion because where you are and where you are meant to be are really part of the same process for you to experience the entirety of your dream from beginning to end. If any part of the process is missing, the dream would not exist. There are no missing pieces. You do not have to wait for better conditions before you do what's in your heart. Leap and the net will appear, because the net is already there actually.

Where you are is perfect because it is part of the process. You couldn't be where you are meant to be without first being where you are. It is the position you are currently are that is where you create where you are meant to be. The appearance of limitation is for the purpose of allowing yourself to experience the power of the creator working in you to transcend all limitations. What is impossible for others in certain areas becomes possible for you because you are chosen to accomplish miracles in those areas.

The more enlightened you are about the ways of the universe, the more you are able to align yourself with it. The more godlike you become in your understanding of everything that happens, the less you seek to change the natural flow of things. When you are at a higher level of awareness, you will realize that everything is going the way it should go. When you know who you really are and how the real you really works, you will know that everything is truly going your way at all times. All of it is perfect.

Enoch Tan aims to help people achieve greater awareness in living and experiencing life. To evolve human consciousness to higher levels. To change lives and transform the universe. To revolutionize the way we understand the mind and reality. Because that is what governs every area of life and destiny. Follow Your Passion by Tim R Hodgson

Those who know me well will recognise that I get lots of my inspiration from movies. Some of my friends would say 'that explains a lot'.

In the John Cusack movie "Serendipity" there is an observation made by Dean, who is the obituary writer for the New York Times:

"The Greeks didn't write obituaries. They had only one question when a man died - 'Did he have passion?'"

If there is one thing I want to be remembered for it is my passion. I want to be remembered for the things I am passionate about. For the things that make me leap out of bed in the morning. The things that make me glad to be alive. I don't even want to be remembered for what I was successful at doing (al. In fact, if my passion has caused me to have one or two failures along the way, then so be it! I would rather have attempted something and failed than live with the dreaded question 'what if?' I'm spending a lot of time lately working out what I am truly passionate about.

Passion is what drives us all. If you're having problems making progress in your life, or you're lacking energy and drive, then ask yourself the question: "am I passionate about this?" You see, life's too short to get tied up in doing things we don't love. If we are truly passionate about something, then we will find a way to make it work. We will find a way to demolish every single obstacle in the way. We will find a way to find the money to achieve it, to find the people that we need to help us, the connections, the resources.

It's a strange (and wonderful) thing too: once we get passionate about something, then synchronicity starts to happen. It's as if the universe responds and clears the roadblocks away as if to say "stand back, passionate human being coming through". People who can help you with your goal suddenly appear as if from nowhere. You suddenly stumble on an article, a newspaper clipping or a TV programme that will help us. As soon as we start raising our energy, as soon as we start getting excited about our goal, then we start to attract people, events and resources with a similar energy.

Sometimes in todays culture it seems as if passion has become locked away - passion is something for special occasions, something for romantic movies, for lovers, for activists. So here's the thing. Passion is for all of us. Passion is for every day. It's not just for those once a lifetime things - it's designed to drive us, inspire us, get us excited. It's designed to motivate us, to lead us, to keep us going when nothing seems to be working. It keep us hungry, keeps us on the edge - keep us pursuing a dream long after others would have given up.

We've become used to doing things because they make sense. Doing things because 'that's just the way it is'. Doing things because that's what we were taught. I see so many people just going through the motions every day. We've lost our passion, lost our fizz, lost our excitement. When would now be a good time to be making sure that we're doing the things that make us feel happy, inspired and excited?

So, what are you passionate about? What is it that you would do even if you weren't getting paid for it? What would you really dream of doing? Remember, this has to be YOUR passion. Not your partner's, your children's, your boss's. It needs to be what YOU love.

It might be the environment, it might be working with children. It might be a hobby. It might be a special project. It might be your family. It might be a specific charity. For you, there is something. Something that you love. Something that challenges you. Something that excites you. That's your passion. Follow it.

Synchronicity
By Bert Henning

What is synchronicity?

The term synchronicity (literally: at the same time) was coined by Carl Jung in 1930. He used the principle of synchronicity to explain the phenomena of meaningful coincidence. Simultaneous events (physical and mental) which are causally unconnected. Jung gives the example of a patient who is sharing a dream he had involving a scarab. At the same moment, a scarab – a rare sight where Jung lived – actually came flying into his room. I think we have all experienced events at which we might say, ‘What a coincidence!’

Sometimes significant events occur together, for example, the stopping of a clock, might coincide with the death of someone. Sometimes the occurrence of simultaneous events which have no causal relationship to one another, seem of little or no significance; just a wink from the universe reminding us that there is more between heaven and earth than meets the eye. At other times, synchronicity can be considered as signs of comfort, direction or guidance, regarding more or less important decisions

Begg provides the following example of synchronicity in relation to aiding guidance at times of decision making. When she went about preparing to move, and go live in Italy, for example, all kinds of obstacles cropped up, such as estate agents not turning up for appointments. But when she decided to go and live in Scotland, the finding and securing of a house went very smoothly.

Is it possible to create synchronicity?

I don't think so. It seems more a case of experiences haphazardly coming to us. But when we open ourselves up to such experiences, they seem to occur more frequently. Opening yourself to such ‘meaningful arrangements’ can helped by:

1. Recognising how special or significant it is. Not diminishing it by viewing it as ‘simply just a coincidence.’ E.g., in relation to Begg’s example, rather than say, ‘that’s just the way Italians are…’and not see it as a sign, you could look for another explanation, a deeper significance.

2. Stopping or stepping back from your own thinking now and then. It will enable you to become more open to intuition and paranormal experiences.

3. Looking differently at normal things. Suppose you get irritated because a traffic light turns red the moment you reach it. The fact that you get irritated says that something is the matter. It may be a sign that you should slow down, or that you'd better not go to the place you intended to go. When you are able to appreciate the real significance you will experience a sense of relief; which may well be the proof in the pudding.

4. Being as spontaneous as you can. Having a sudden idea, or impulse to do/say something, act upon it as soon as possible. This way of being offers the best opportunity of going along, or in accordance with, the universe.
